Bringing the monument to life during the works

All works entail constraints and generate changes that are often substantial for the teams. Anticipating changes, supporting teams, minimising disruption as far as possible while making the most of the consequences of the work by careful management in consultation with the various parties involved and appropriate communication both internally and externally are essential points in optimising the worksite period within a heritage site.

Objectives - Target skills

  • Be aware of the constraints of a worksite on a heritage site and work with internal and external teams to anticipate the material and human impacts
  • Know how to adapt the visitor itinerary to minimise the nuisance caused by the works and manage the cohabitation between teams
  • Communicating internally and externally about the works, promoting them and making the constraints acceptable.

Detailed programme

ANTICIPATING AND PREPARING BEFORE THE WORKS

  • Assessment of the impact on all site activities as soon as the works programme is defined (technical dimension and timetable)
  • Anticipation of the impact of the works with internal and external teams, concessionaires (material, human, technical, public aspects, etc.)
  • Information meetings with employees on the new work organisation linked to the works
  • Prevention and safety: role of the various contacts and liaison with the teams
  • Adaptation of visitor itineraries to take account of work-related constraints
  • Tariff study (possible reduction in tariffs during the works)

SUPPORT DURING THE WORKS

  • Communicating with the public, providing information about changes to or the removal of areas that can be visited, enhancing the value of the site as a result of the works
  • Management of visitor traffic and safety
  • Working with the project manager on coordination between teams and alerting the site manager and permanent teams in the event of irregularities
  • Informing and training teams
  • Involving staff in setting up a temporary visitor trail

SUPPORTING THE END OF THE WORKS

  • Staff take ownership of the new site after the works have been completed
  • Communicating the end of the works
